My brother and I hunt spring bear in north Idaho after having meniscus sugary. After a slow start to the season and a knee sugary, my brother and I were able to havest two great bears in north Idaho. We had a great time getting out and baiting bear.
Hunting bear in the spring is a very good predator management tool. In Idaho, we are able to use bait to bring bear in and harvest them. It is illegal to shoot a bear that has cubs. In Idaho, there is an abundant number of bears and in several units, Idaho allows the harvest of two bears per year.
Bear predation on ungulates in the spring can be very devastating to the calf and fawn survival rates. It is our responsibility to manage all wildlife. This includes predators. Predator management is very important to the health of all species in each ecosystem.
